Hi Jane. I love this concept of having a chat with aging. When I look at the poor health of both of my parents as they aged and not having kids myself to support my dotage - I have dreaded aging. However, firstly I make sure to stay as healthy as I can and secondly, as your conversation demonstrates, it doesn't have to be a negative experience. I think I should maybe have one of these conversations. I think mindset around aging makes a huge difference and I can definitely improve mine.
The older we are, the better we embrace and hug aging both in gratitude and self love! I do need a reminder sometimes… “don’t let the old woman in!” 😅I’m 81 but still keeping up with younger pickleball pals! Just find joy and fun outside and with friends. Thanks for this piece, Jane; from the perspective of aging! Good reminders for us all. ☺️🫶🥰
Jane, I love the combo of funny+true + important. Thank you!
Mindset is such a critical element of aging well. One of the three principles I propose in my book, The New Old, is “Master Your Mindset,” and I teach readers how to shift that negative interior commentary you’re talking about. We’re very aligned! 😊
I spent up to 4am this morning awake and listening to Buddhist teachings on YouTube called quiet minds. In the end I fell asleep to a longer video of the same monk, teaching the wisdom of ageing well. I thank God that I’m living my last years in an enlightened environment. There is a definite turn in outlook now. I believe that it started with the baby boomers in the 60’s and their concerns about love. Now we are all Elders. And while there are still too many people who haven’t got the message, I’m coming across many more who have all the time. Thank you Jane.
That's wonderful to hear Trish. I love you were awake and then fell asleep to listening to ageing well. Feeling good about whatever happens with sleep is a great part of ageing well!
This is wonderful!! Really helps us see how unfair and discriminatory we are to Aging- and with lightness and kindness, too :). I once wrote a conversation with Death- now I am going to go dig it up! 😊

Oooh that sounds exciting, Leslie! Let me know when you have found that conversation please :)
Delightful! It made me chuckle, and of course I was on Ageing's side.
Glad to hear it Juliet, me too, of course!
